Told he was too small to be a wrestler, he started out as a referee for FMW in 1996. He continued to pursue his dream, and eventually was introduced to Ultimo Dragon by Jinsei Shinzaki. Ultimo had no size restriction for his school, so Kid entered the Ultimo Dragon Gym.
Debuts as a 1st term student. He is given the Dragon character as Ultimos' pupil.
Continues in Mexico, with some spot participation in Japan for Michinoku Pro. He also spent some time in World Championship Wrestling, gaining a pinfall victory over Eddy Guerrero on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro.
Arrives in Japan with the rest of Toryumon. Wins the NWA Welterweight title. On his first defense, vs. rival Judo Suwa, suffers a severe knee injury that causes him to miss the rest of 1999 (he also lost the title in the match).
Returns on the first show of the year, resumes feuding with SUWA. Despite failing to recapture his title he did defend his mask in a Mask vs. Hair match. That same night saw the debut of Darkness Dragon, who would be the next major rival for Kid.
Defends mask again, this time as a part of the first 5 way cage match.
Feud with Darkness Dragon escalates to yet another mask match. Kid was again successful. Is left without a unit when Seikigun disbands.
Joins Shin M2K at the start of year.
Wins El Numero Uno 2004 in a huge upset. Leads the remnants of Shin M2K in what became known jokingly as The Dragon Kid Empire. At World, suffers a brutal beating at the hands of Shuji Kondo. Ends up in the care of Magnum TOKYO, who accepts him into Do FIXER.
Wins the Open the Brave Gate near the end of year, holds the Triangle Gate several times.
Suffers complications from appendicitis, putting him out for several months.
Returns from his illness with a new look. Joins Typhoon.
