News and Report Archive

3/31/2003- The May VamoAmi was announced. It will air on May 30th, and covers the 5/6 Korakuen and 5/17 Chicken shows. The first of the 3 April episodes airs this coming Friday, covering the 2/22 Mexico show and 3/9 Differ.

3/30/2003- Zepp Sendai results. YOSSINO has completed the normal league matches undefeated. YOSSINO hasn't lost a fall since 3/3/02, which was to Milano in the T2P league finals. His is the 2nd longest such streak, only to SUWAs', who has not lost a pinfall or submission decision since 4/14/01 (Numero Uno semis). No idea what Magnums' 44 is yet. Ultimo has challenged The Great Sasuke to a match for Sasukes' NWA Middleweight title. This would be taking place at the big Yoyogi show on 4/22.

3/30/2003- Well, I just noticed Toryumon USA has recently passed the 100,000 hit plateau. While this isn't much in comparison to the traffic most other sites get (*coughdamnyouStucough*), I am very proud of this, and as always, want to thank you for the support you have given my little fan site over the last 2 and a half years. Thank you!

3/29/2003- Iwate results. YOSSINO has basically wrapped up Block C.

3/28/2003- Better late than never, Iwate results. Sorry for the lateness, but we poor folk need to work all the overtime we can^^). The move CIMA used is another of his weird mystery moves, a submission of some sort. I expect a poultry related name for it any time now. Now let's all let out a collective sigh over match 4.......

3/27/2003- Akita results. Once again, no times available. A couple notes. Milano will be appearing on 4/11 WMF show, facing WMF wrestler Soldier. World tickets go on sale on 4/19, and cost the same as last year. Dragon VIP are 15,000. First Row Ringside was 10,000. Ringside are 8,000. Arena A & B are 6000 & 5000, and 2nd and 3rd floor are 4000 and 3000.

3/26/2003- Aomori results, final show of the Aomori leg of the tour. No times available yet. K-ness forfeited his match to TARU today.

3/25/2003- Early Aomori results, day 2. K-ness sadly did indeed have to forfeit today, Mochi got credit for a win, he now has 4 points. TV Nishi Nippon confirmed that they will be airing the 4/13 show as an Uno Dos Tres broadcast. It airs the same day, 24:45~25:39. Magnum has once again changed his ring costume, he is wearing white versions of his DF dance gear and ring attire. The support for Iwasa in his feud (??) with Ali Baba continues to grow. A loud Iwasa aid call rang out during the entire match today. Fans have started to wonder aloud when Milano, Magu, or even Ultimo will defeat Baba and, for lack of nicer terms, get rid of him. Please note this is not the good type of heel heat, this is more that we don't want you around kind of heat. I really hate to be so negative towards Ali Baba, but the fans are really outraged over his presence, and legitimately want him gone. Honestly, there wouldn't be much of a problem if he was wrestling Stalker every night, but Iwasa, while he loses 99.99999% of the time anyway, has a following, is awesome in the ring, and could be used in so many more productive ways (especially if he is indeed the new CMAX recruit, and not Ogawauchi). But hey, looking around the rest of Toryumon these days, well...............

3/24/2003- Aomori results. The Ali Baba Press is now being referred to as the "Flying Carpet".  I was so optimistic after the lineups were released for Numero Uno. Now after 3 shows, they have managed to completely kill my interest in it. Good job.  This may be the worst Toryumon show on paper I have EVER seen.

3/23/2003- Once again, Dave Meltzer has updated on the Ultimo/WWE situation, he said Ultimo has verbally agreed to a deal, just has to sign it. He will be joining the Smackdown roster sometime soon after Wrestlemania. This could possibly mean Ultimo won't be around for the 4/22 Yoyogi show, thus putting to rest the rumours of he and Tatsuhito Takaiwa occurring there (a rumour that was never really true anyway). I have already voiced my opinion on all this, so I will just wish the Principal good luck once again.

3/22/2003- Sapporo results. Opener was said to be nothing spectacular. YASSINI may have taken the Deja Vu wrong and gotten hurt. Match 2, Stalker did the Stan Ichikawa persona, but it was otherwise a typical wasteful Ali Baba match. Has it been 2 months yet? The 3rd match had a great exchange between Milano and Iwasa, even though Iwasa will surely be back under Ali Baba on the next show. Ultimo finished Anthony, while Milano finished Iwasa. SUWA and Mochi intruded into match 4, but Shuji fought through it and got a clean tap out. Magnum won his match with the STF to show Milano he can use Llave as well. (.......) YOSSINO won clean, then provoked K-ness afterwards. Main event was said to be a good old school Toryumon 6 man.

3/21/2003- El Numero Uno kicked off today in Sapporo. In some rather terrible news, it seems K-ness will miss most if not all of the series, and has been forced to forfeit the NWA Welterweight title. Tonights' title match has been changed to a decision match between YOSSINO and Genki. In the SUWA vs. Mochi match, Shuji interfered twice, first leading to a no contest, then causing the restart to end in double ringout. You would think there would be some new booking ideas this year, but............. (Apologies for the mistake on the 3 way match, it was listed incorrectly in my first report.) Right now it is unknown if K-ness wil be forfeiting all his matches, or if someone will be taking his place (Iwasa, BATAyan, and Mishima would be likely candidates). Ultimo said he would wrestle tonight to make up for K-ness not being able to appear. (Great........). The Ali Baba Press is a Big Van Crush/Reverse Splash out of the corner, not just a King Kong Bundy style standing splash, just in case anyone was curious.

3/19/2003- Received VamoAmi #48 and the first Uno Dos Tres today. The December UDT was not as strong as the first, simply due to more lackluster matches. (it covered the 12/8 Shimonoseki show). The main even was getting very good, but then there was a strange clip, which just seemed awkward. VamoAmi was pretty good, it covered the 2 main matches that aired on the February UDT. The first match, the Shin M2K vs DF match was for the better, since they showed more (including some great stuff between K-ness and Doi). The main was clipped down more than on UDT, and the crowd was more muffled, lowering it's impact. This is still the best bout of the year though. The 2/16 Korakuen show was decent enough, with the 3 Way of course standing out. That match at least is worth seeing. For those wondering about the whereabouts of Pescatore Yagi, Milano said on VamoAmi that Yagi was sent to make bread in his fathers' bakery while his hair grows out....(Yagi revealed he was really the son of a baker, not a fisherman at the January Korakuen). Match listings are up in the TV History section.

3/17/2003-Results from Chicken. K-ness off again. CIMA said he would defeat YOSSINO in 5 minutes by Schwein and Dragon Kid in 3 minutes by Schwein in Numero Uno. Kid countered by saying he would only need 2 minutes to win by Ultra Huracanrana. The bottom rope broke during the three way, leading to sloppiness. The main event was said to have been awesome.

3/16/2003- Tokai results. K-ness cancelled off due to his shoulder injury. Seems he isn't able to move it much as of now. It is said he will be able to participate in Numero Uno, but there is some worry.  Reports indicate a pretty sloppy show today, with a lot more negative talk about Ali Baba.

3/15/2003- Nagano results. K-ness suffered some sort of shoulder injury today, it is unknown how serious as of now.

3/14/2003- The boredom=new content rule rears it's ugly (?) head again. Since I never quite realized they were there on the Gaora page, I have added full results of the Toryumon Mexico shows. These date back to 1997, with the debut of the original class. Click here to see them. Oh, and Mayuko, thank you for the photo^^.

3/14/2003- Full schedules for May and June are up. Both are fairly busy months.

3/12/2003- Ultimo will wrestle on the 3/17 Chicken show, presumably against King Ali Baba.

3/11/2003- The full Numero Uno lineups were announced. Check the bracketing for those. Keep in mind, the only shows that will be televised as of now are 3/21, 3/22, 4/15, and 4/13. Also announced for 3/22, is K-ness' much anticipated NWA Welterweight title match with YOSSINO.

3/10/2003- Some interesting news out of Differ that I had not heard initially. It seems El Numero Uno will mark the official merger of Japan and T2P, and at that time, there are plans to instill a lineup type system, where there will be regular and semi-regulars. As of now, the regulars are going to be only 5-6, while there other 45 or roster members will be semi regulars. This is pretty intriguing, in that it opens up some more possibilities for wrestling elsewhere for everyone (yes, including coming to the US for WPW and to the WWE if Ultimo comes). Milano Collection is the only one to have been named as a regular thus far. The plans are still in the early phases, and may not be implemented until after X. Some of the first matches for Numero Uno have been announced, check the bracketing for those.

3/9/2003- This year's Numero Uno will be crowning the first Ultimo Dragon Gym champion. Unlike the prior 2 years, this year the final night will have a single elimination tournament, with the top 2 point getters from each block, plus 2 from the Dragon Scramble battle royal. Milano Collection vs. Magnum is said to be occurring on one of the two opening nights in Saporro Taisen Hall. Dave Meltzer has reported Ultimo is close to signing a WWE deal, in as soon as 2 months. Hope he goes, good luck, Principal.

3/9/2003- Ariake results. The El Numero Uno bracketing has been announced, click here to see them. Stalker did an Osamu Nishimura parody, hence the yoga. King Ali Baba is WPW owner Martin Marin.  He elbowed Kanda causing the DQ. Reports said this match was terrible and questioned why it was put on such an important show. The semi and main were both said to have been great. Susumu was too upset to participate in the dance, due to the loss of his 'suka Jumper.

3/8/2003- Gumma results. Shuji interfered in match 3, causing SUWA to be counted out. Also, thankfully, Doi and Genki have returned to action.

3/7/2003- The 4/22 Yoyogi National Stadium show will be a Pay Per View broadcast, it will air live on Sky Perfect channel 116 starting at 18:30. 1500 per viewing.

3/6/2003- 2 new X students debuted on the 2/22 Mexico show. They now have barebones profiles. Also, 3 of the prior new debutantes have made slight name adjustments, so those have been changed as well. Taiji Ishimori and Shu Sato will be the first unit to emerge from X, probably along with Kei Sato. They will all have Taijis' seaman style. Thanks as always to our great friends over at Lanzarse for the information. ありがとうございます!! Coincidentally, full results for the aforementioned 2/22 show are now available, courtesy of the GAORA official page

3/5/2003- Received the last T2P show today. The main event really carried the show, although I need to re-watch the semi-main, since I was distracted on first pass. Ogawauchi vs. Owashi wasn't nearly as good as reports said, although Jun tried....Match listing is up in the TV History section

3/4/2003- Not much to say today except.....Who has called me hage!!?

3/3/2003- Got my first look at the remainder of Toryumon X today. I was fairly impressed, given the amount of experience most of them have. Murcielago, Naoki Tanizaki, and Takeshi Yamamoto have the most promise. Yamamoto is heavily patterned after Hiroyoshi Tenzan of New Japan. His hair is even similar (.....) Their profiles have been slightly updated with some trademark moves, where applicable. The upcoming VamoAmi, that airs on Friday has been changed. Instead of covering 2/16 and 2/27, it will cover 2/9 (which was the great show that Uno Dos Tres covered) and 2/16. The 2/27 Chicken show was hampered by that nasty flu bug.

3/2/2003- The next [Uno Dos Tres Toryumon] special will cover the April 14th Shimonoseki Strait Messe show, which is late in the El Numero Uno league. They haven't set a specific date. but will likely run the same day. If patterns hold true, Uno Dos.. will become a bi-monthly thing. (they have run in December, February, and now April..)

3/1/2003- April VamoAmi schedule was announced, 2 that month. #49 airs for the first time on 4/5, and will cover the Yamaha Cup in Mexico from 2/22, 3/9 Differ Ariake, and 3/17 Chicken. #50 airs for the first time on 4/21, and covers the Numero Uno opening nights in Sakura Taisen Hall (3/21&22) and the 4/15 Osaka IMP Hall show. May will probably feature a 3 hour special on the Numero Uno finals show in Yoyogi.
