NEWS AND NOTES

11/30/2002- Some site news today. First, a Japanese lesson. Two things that have been commonly mistranslated by myself and most others are CIMA's finisher, and the ring name of Kanji Ichikawa. CIMAs' finisher in Japanese katakana looks like this: シュバイン. This literally translates to "Syubain". Most people (myself included, since I was the first on the net to mention it *cough*) just took this as being Shubain (the "syu" has a "shu" sound). Well, upon watching an older video of VamoAmi today, I stumbled across CIMA wearing a shirt that said "Schwein". When he said what his shirt said, he  pronounced it identically to how he pronounced his finisher name. Sch having a Shu sound, and wein pronounced vyne. B sounds in katakana are the same as V sounds, and "ai" is pronounced like a Y, making Shubyne, or Shuvyne. So all this paragraph of rambling makes his finishers' proper translated name, Schwein. As for Mr. Ichikawa, he is commonly known as Stoker Ishikawa, and in some places Stalker Ichikawa. His name looks like this in Japanese: ストーカー市川. The first section is the one to look at, literal translation is Sutooka. This is where Stoker came from. Well, the double O sound is really pronounced like or Storker, and the o is pronoucned like a A, for Stalker. His gimmick is he is a creepy stalker guy, so I guess the connection should have been made. His last name is Ichikawa, not Ishikawa, that was just a flat out mistake from the start with not much room for interpretation. I apologize for committing said errors, and they have been fixed throughout the entire site (oh the joys of find/replace ><). In lighter, happier news, several profiles have been updated with new pics and some cleaning up. K-Ness, Genki, Ryo, and YOSSINO, among others. Also on the profile page is the new Do FIXER logo.

11/27/2002- Full results up from Korakuen, and it was yet another eventful show.
--Ryo Saito has turned heel, although not necessarily joined Do FIXER yet, after a mis-aimed Mochi blue box shot led to him being pinned in the opener. He intruded on the semi-final, and danced with Do FIXER, however it was said he was absolutely terrible at it. Genki said to study harder.  He and Genki have reconciled their differences. Ryo destroyed his bike with a chair and said he would show his rudo character, FIXER says they are looking for one more person, and invited Raimu Mishima. He has one month to decide.
--After the opener and events with Ryo, Mochi said he was tired of Sekigun and being the leader. He left Araken alone in the ring. Mochi said he would think about things while in Mexico  Mochi was attacked and KO'd by Owashi after all this. This doesn't exactly mean he is leaving Sekigun, this could possibly lead to him steping down and Ultimo assuming the leader role (not a positive thing in my view....) or he could be leaving to join a new unit, or resurrect M2K (which I would like to see, with Susumu and one other.)
--The ItaConne intruded during the opening MC while CMAX was performing Iwasas' theme music and attacked TARUs leg, forcing him to forfeit his scheduled match with Araken. TARU has been suffering from a knee injury the last few weeks.
--Araken intruded on the Stalker/Yagi match (Yagi apparently was X, or they forgot about that). He and Yagi will have a singles match on one of the December Korakuen shows, where if Yagi loses he has to grow out his hair....
--The Italian Connection big 3 lost their first match ever in Japan, falling to the original CMAX 3.
--Magnum came out after the main and the brawling that ensued after it. It ended up being determined that CIMA and Milano will have a NWA Light Heavyweight title match on the 12/26 Korakuen show. Magnum will also be having a big match around this time, possibly with CIMA and/or Milano. Magnum challenged CIMA to fight for the ace of Japan distinction. On the 25th CIMA is listed as vs. X.....
--The Mishima/Shisa match was called Toilet Time by Kanda.....which isn't exactly flattering. Shisa suffered what appears to be a shoulder injury, and he had to be stretchered out.
--The 25th and 26th shows will be full Japan vs. T2P confrontation shows
--K-Ness and Susumu have new ring costumes.
--Schedules are updated through January, with VamoAmi airdates.

11/24/2002- Today's results up. Next show is where the promised end to the faction alignment headaches will occur. Mochi had some more choice words for Ryo today, coming just short of declaring war on him....Participants for the annual Young Dragons Cup were announced, the tournament will take place over the upcoming Mexico tour, with the finals going down on 12/7. In addition to the finals, 4 new X students will debut, in a tag match. It's rather puzzling that Hisamaru Tajima is not participating in this year's tournament....Jun Ogawauchi also returns from his injury.

11/23/2002- Today's' results up. Very nice looking show, with great opener and main. Mochi and Ryo had some miscommunication in the main, leading to an argument, Iwasa tried to separate them....

11/21/2002- The Toryumon team was announced for the Junior Tag tournament on February. Dragon Kid will team with Ultimo. This is actually pretty surprising for me, I would prefer Ultimo not be involved, since his presence would diminish a Toryumon team win....I forgot to mention this one last update, Stalker will meet famous Joshi wrestler Yumiko Hotta on the East vs. West show. The 10/28 Korakuen Hall show (Kandas' retirement, formation of Do FIXER, K-Ness renaming) airs this coming Saturday night. Decembers' VamoAmi will cover the upcoming 11/27 Korakuen show, and as of now, there does not seem to be plans to show any of the 10/27 T2P show, which is disappointing.

11/19/2002- A match was announced for the East vs. West all star show. CIMA, SUWA, and TARU will face TAKA Michinoku, Great Sasuke, and Mochi. Most of you know by now the cancellation of Ultimos' match with the EPIC promotion. Won't comment on it, sad that Ultimo won't get to finish his tour. His next match is on 12/9 on a Toryumon Mexico show.

11/17/2002- Todays' results up. More fun times with CMAX and Iwasa, they ended the show playing his music instead of the normal Crazy Fucking....He may enter formally, soon. Made some corrections to the Ultimo Mexico results, as pointed to me by the always helpful Robert Bihari, thanks! Also, Ultimo worked in front of a K-DOJOesque 50 fans last night for WPW in California. He teamed with Chilango, Durango Kidd, & Zarco to defeat NOSAWA, MASADA, Misterioso, and Poison, Dragon using the Dragon Sleeper on NOSAWA (credit: SoCal Uncensored).

11/16/2002- Todays' results up. Ryo was angry at Magu for interfering on his behalf in his match. CMAX continued teasing Iwasa, and once again played his theme music, pretty standard show. Condotti Shuji and Second Doi will be in the US with Ultimo, possibly wrestling, possibly just standing around knowing they are better than anyone else there. American Dragon has been added to the EPIC match, making it a three way (yawn). Get the backyarder out of there and we would actually have a hell of a match now. Results from Ultimos' 2nd Mexico match. He will wrestle tonight for some low-grade Southern California lucha promotion who somehow managed to come up with his asking price (maybe they shopped only clearance racks at K-Mart for their costumes?).

Ultimo Dragon/Atlantis/Mr. Niebla (2-1) Ultimo Guerrero/Rey Buccanero/Mascara de Ano 2000
Fall One: Dragon (6:09-Modified Arm Submission) Buccanero
Fall Two: Anyo (4:31-Pinfall) Atlantis
Fall Three: Dragon (Small Package Hold) Guerrero

11/15/2002- Early Aichi results. After the opener, there was an argument between Mochi and Anthony. Ryo shook Anthonys' hand and sided with him. Mochi then lectured Ryo about Anthony......Mototsugu Shimizu returned as ring announcer today for the first time in a long time.

11/14/2002- Amendment to yesterdays post, full results of Ultimos' comeback match:

Ultimo Dragon/Tony Boy/Solar (2-1) Mano Negra/Nitro/Titan.
Fall One: Dragon(Huracanrana)Nitro
Two: Nitro(Figure 4)Solar
Three: Dragon (Dragon Sleeper)Negra

11/13/2002- Ultimo Dragon made his official return to wrestling last night, in a 6 man tag match, his team winning 2 falls to 1. I don't know any specifics beyond the results of fall 1 and 3. Fall one Ultimo defeated Nitro with a Huracanrana, and fall 3 Ultimo defeated Mano Negro with the Dragon Sleeper. His next match is Friday night. Seems Genki Horiguchi may be in for a complete character change, ditching the surfer completely....stay tuned,,,,

11/13/2002- Some big news this morning, on February 8th and 9th  there will be a 5 company Junior Tag tournament, with Toryumon, NOAH, Zero One, IWA Japan and WEW involved. Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Naohiro Hoshikawa were confirmed for Zero One, no other participants yet. It will be shown live on the G+ satellite channel (part of Nippon TV) and also on Nippon TV itself on 2/15.

11/10/2002- Todays' results up. At one of the upcoming Aichi shows, Mochi and Ryo will meet in what I believe is their first ever singles matches. More Iwasa/CMAX stuff. Seems like CMAX have been...ahem..."performing" Iwasas' theme song for him (or something to this effect) and either November or December is Iwasa Strengthening Month...After the main, Magu gave Ryo a lesson on how to properly use the Blue Box. TARU suffered an injury yesterday and had to be taken to the hospital, no word on the extent or what was hurt. Get well soon!

11/9/2002- Results up from a special show at  a trade school.

11/8/2002- From todays' MPRO show: CIMA{W}/SUWA/Don Fujii (11:34-Mad Splash) Curry Man{L}/Tiger Mask/Dragon Kid

11/7/2002- Some news off Nikkan Sports this evening,. The 1/25 All Star show I reported on a few weeks back was confirmed, with the rumoured East vs. West theme. CIMA will captain the East side, and Great Sasuke will captain the West. 10 promotions will participate, but Osaka Pro pulled off the show a few weeks back. CIMA was involved in a minor (depending on how you look at it) auto accident this morning in Kobe, crashing into a store front. He caused 3,000,000 in damage, but no one was injured. He joked since he drove his American car that was flying like a Mexican luchador into a Japanese business that he caused an international accident......(>_<).  Dave Meltzer reported in his latest newsletter that Norman Smiley of WCW and various lucha libre promotion fame would be appearing in Toryumon soon. I guess since we have already had Disco Inferno, any former WCW wrestler appearing is a step up......

11/7/2002- Ultimos' comeback tour is finally finalized (for the most part). He will be working in Mexico on 11/12 in Arena Pachuka (EMLL? No match announced), 11/15 in Arena Mexico (EMLL, No match announced), 11/17 in EPIC in Los Angeles against Super Dragon, 12/9 in Mexico on a Toryumon Mexico show, where he will team with Dragon Kid and Mochi against Emilio Charles Jr, Bestia Salvage, and Scorpio Jr, and finally back in Japan for one of the 3 year end Korakuen shows. The Mexico 6 man is interesting, because it occurs after what Mochi said would be the resolution to the current faction woes, and wouldn't seem to indicate a heel turn for Mochi.  If you have noticed the removal of my tape section, a dead VCR has put me out of any trading/selling business I would be in, and the section as a whole needs a full overhaul. I will be turning it into a better reference tool in the near future.

11/6/2002- A bit late, here are my thoughts on the October VamoAmi. Kness and Kid were a very good team, their match with Magu and Susumu was as good as you would expect. Ryo vs. Kness was a step off, I thought. It was a bit short and the interference section wasn't as well done as it could have been, even if it was short. The section afterwards was rockin, with a very very nice reversal sequence that started in a Cycling Yahhoo attempt and ended in a Kness Cross Arm Lyger Bomb. The highlight of the program was the 10/8 CMAX vs. ItaConne 6 man. Finally a match that lived up to the potential between these 2 teams. Each of the prior meetings built more and more upon things, and finally we got a total blowaway match between them. The heat was far less than on 9/8, but it was a smaller venue, and was in Osaka, where Toryumon isn't as popular and doesn't run as often. CIMA has looked fantastic as of late, all kinds of fired up and motivated. Some reports of recent shows has said CIMA looks different in the ring lately, and judging from performances I have been able to see, it is for the better. I hope when CMAX finally does beat Milano, they run in a stable building, because the crowd may blow the place up......Overall, good show, worth picking up.
Onto the current events. Lots of speculation and opinions floating around about all the faction changings. Some things going on I like, some I am wary of. First off, Ryo. Ryo as a rudo would be OK, but like Genki, would all but force a complete character renovation. I would prefer he stays with Sekigun for now, as he is too good as a sympathy babyface. Mochi on the other hand, I have always preferred as a rudo, M2K just never recovered after losing him, and he just doesn't have the same flair as he did as a punk. I would love to see him join Do FIXER, although he and Magu together may throw the balance too much in that favour. and I just don't see Mochi dancing.  Unless of course Genki leaves, which is something I would not like to see at all. He has spent a full year becoming the very good, if goofy rudo he is now. To turn him to Sekigun would be a waste. Susumu I don't see changing, although it wouldn't necessarily be bad. Iwasa joining CMAX would rock, because he the best of the non-ItaConne T2P members (not to mention he is far and away my favourite), and CMAX has routinely had the freaky face-painted 5th member who lost all the time. Iwasa rocks and would fit in well. I hope it happens, but I don't count on it just because of one instance. If I had the decision, I would align it like this:
Sekigun: Leader-Dragon Kid, Ryo, Araken, Shisa, Anthony, Raimu, Kawabata
Do FIXER: Leader- Mochi/Magu, K-NESS, Genki, Susumu
CMAX: Leader- CIMA, SUWA, Fuji, TARU, Iwasa

11/4/2002- Results up from Kobe.. Araken appeared after match 2, said that only one "Priests Uncle" (literal translation) was needed in Toryumon. Yagi and Araken have very similar styles, so I guess this could lead to a change for one...C-MAX shouted encouragement to Iwasa during his match, although he lost again. Let me be the first to say I would not be against Iwasa joining CMAX one bit^^.  Lot's of things after the main. Mochi was furious Ryo used the blue box, and gave him a rather painful sounding open hand slap. Ryo was pissed and said Anthony W. Mori was the only one he trusted now, saying he may leave Sekigun. Mochi countered this by saying he may FIRE RYO FROM SEKIGUN in front of the Korakuen audience at the next Korakuen. Magu invited Ryo to join Do FIXER, which pissed off Genki, although he made amends later by dancing with the rest of Do FIXER. They have a new slogan (well, Genki does) "He who has called me HAGE".  I have been told Hage means bold. All signs point to a double turn, Ryo heel, Genki face right now. I received the October VamoAmi today, I will post thoughts after I view it.

11/3/2002- Today's results up, with the Italian Connection big 3 involved, along with Do FIXERs' first official show together. There was miscommunication between Mochi and Ryo in their match, which lead to the loss. Mochi gave Ryo a sermon afterwards.....Toryumon will have involvement on the 12/12 WMF show, with Stalker facing WMF comedy wrestler Ikeda-kun (this should be very funny, Ikeda has a good character) and Dragon Kid will face Onryo (another one that should be very very good).
